Frequently asked Questions about our Kayaktours

What age the participants should have?

Kids and youths under an age of 18 are allowed to paddle on our tours as they come with an adult per kid/youth. Exceptions we make for classes and groups of youths: They must be at least 15 years old and have to come with a teacher.

Do I need any experience knowledge in paddling kayaks.

Not at all! Every tour starts with a short, but efficient introduction into paddling where we show you the main strokes and how to paddle straight ahead. Our kayaks are so stable that nobody will overturn it unless he force it in a strong way.

What can/should I bring with me?

Nice to have during the tour is on sunny days: suncream and headress; on rainy days: a rain jacket. Furthermore something little to eat and drink, good mood and a t-shirt to change. You can storage your backpack either in the watertight hatch in the kayak or in our closed kayak truck. For mobiles and other devices we offer watertight sacks.

Alcoholic drinks!

Please not before or during the tour. Exception is our evening tour where one beer is allowed during the tour. As you come drunken to our tour we do not paddle with you but you have to pay the fee.

Do we paddle rain or shine?

Paddling is a very weather independent kind of sport as already the inuits knew. So we enjoy even a short rain or drizzle. But of course when there is a thunderstorm or permanent heavy rain you can cancel the booking for free within 1 hour before the tour starts.

Meeting / Starting points: You find them in the booking confirmation. But generally:

For all the Night Tours, all the East Tours and those of the public West Tours which start in the morning we meet at Urbanhafen in Berlin-Kreuzberg on the riverside on the right side of the entrance of the restaurant ship “Van Loon”. The best way to come is by subway U1 to the station “Prinzenstraße”. Have a look on the network map. From here it is about 5 minutes to us. For taxi or navigation system just say/choose the address of the next street to the river: Carl Herz Ufer 7, 10961 Berlin?

For the public West Tours Saturdays and Sunday at 3 p.m. we meet at the train station S-Bahnhof Tiergarten Exit: Straße des 17. Juni, 10623 Berlin. The best way to come to the starting point S-Station Tiergarten is by S7 or S5, what are lines which are crossing the very center of Berlin. Have a look on the network map.

The fascinating Potsdam Tour starts at our kayak rental at the train station S-Bahnhof Griebnitzsee in Potsdam. S7 from Berlin – direct way. Have a look on the network map.

For private tours we can arrange different starting / meeting points.

What are our guides for!

Our guide gives you a short but useful introduction how to paddle, helps you to put the boats into the water, assists you with words and hands and leads you safely on the waterways of Berlin. He/she also introduces you to the historical background, stories and facts, which make this tour so interesting. The guidance is bilingual in English and German.
